Exploding iPhones Do to Pressure Not Battery

Earlier this week there were some reports of an iPhone explosion. According to some sources a 15 year old boy was holding his iPhone about to make a call when the iPhone exploded, the boy didn't really got injured but it really left a headache that lasted a couple of weeks. Apple promised that boy an iPhone and they are yet to deliver.

After that incident apple started an investigation to find out the cause of this explosions and they came with an answer. Apple said that they are no evidence of overheating batteries causing the iPhone to explode in such a way.

"To date, there are no confirmed battery overheating incidents for iPhone 3GS and the number of reports we are investigating is in the single digits," the firm said in a statement to AFP."

The iPhone that apple analyzed the one with the broken glass shows signs of it been crack by a external force applied to the iPhone.

"The iPhones with broken glass that we have analyzed to date show that in all cases the glass cracked due to an external force that was applied to the iPhone," the company added."

Apple also reports that with over 26 million iPhone and 200 million iPod sold to date, none of them claims that they are zero overheating incidents. The incidents that apple have investigated are in the single digits.

Apple's fears: Google Taking Over the iPhone

Techcrunch have some interesting contradictions to Apple's Response to the FCC the question here is, was apple lying about everything? Are they worry that Google will take over the iPhone?

Yesterday Apple mention in their statement that they never really rejected Google Voice application but Techcrunch saids that apple is lying.

According to Techcrunch, many sources disclose to them in July that Phil Schiller Apple's SVP said that Google Voice app was or was going to be rejected. Google also confirm this to them later on. So who is lying here?

Apple also went into details explaining that Google Voice alter the iPhone's distinctive user experience by replacing the iPhone's core mobile telephone functionality and the user interface with its own interface for calls, text, and voicemail.

But according to Techcrunch Google Voice app in no way replaces Apple's voicemail function or in any way interfere with the iphone text messaging feature.

There are strong evidence that Apple is lying and they really did rejected the application according to Techcrunch sources.

So what do you think Google will do or say about this on their statement to the FCC?
I can not wait to see what will happen!

Apple Responce to Google Voice App Rejection

Earlier today Apple was suppose to state the reasons of the rejection of Google Voice App to the US Federal Communications Commission. Apple just published their response to the Federal Communications Commission on the news section at apple.com.

They started off by giving information about the apple store and the iPhone. They stated that the apple store offers over 65,000 applications and customers have downloaded over 1.5 million applications since the apple store open more than a year ago. Apple also includes that "apple has also fostered competition as other companies (e.g., Nokia, Microsoft, RIM, Palm and Verizon) seek to develop their own mobile platforms and launch their own application stores". They also talk about the reviewing process where apple reviews every application submitted to the apple store in order to "protect consumer privacy, safeguard children from inappropriate content, and avoid applications that degrade the core experience of the iPhone". According to apple 95% of the applications submitted are approved withing 14 days of their submission.

Apple has answer six questions in hope to clear out all misunderstandings.

To answer the question why the Google voice application was rejected to the apple store this is what apple said about it:
"Apple has not rejected the Google Voice application, and continues to study it. The application has not been approved because, as submitted for review, it appears to alter the iPhone’s distinctive user experience by replacing the iPhone’s core mobile telephone functionality and Apple user interface with its own user interface for telephone calls, text messaging and voicemail"

To answer the question of whether or not AT&T had anything to do with the rejection of Google Voice app this is what apple said:
"Apple is acting alone and has not consulted with AT&T about whether or not to approve the Google Voice application. No contractual conditions or non-contractual understandings with AT&T have been a factor in Apple’s decision-making process in this matter".
AT&T as nothing to do with apple approving or rejecting applications, apple is the one that gives the final decision.

Apple gave some interesting response to question 6 about the review and approval process. According to apple they have more then 40-full time trained reviewers, at least two different reviewers study the application so the approval can be evenly. More than 65,000 applications and only more than 40-full time reviewers i don't know but i think apple should get more trained reviewers. No wonder why some applications take really long to be approved.

Apple, AT&T, And Google; Comments on App Rejection Today

According to USA Today, Apple AT&T and Google are suppose to state the reasons to the US Federal Communications Commission why Google's free voice application (Google Voice) was rejected from the Apple store.

Apple (AAPL) and AT&T (T) Friday are expected to tell the Federal Communications Commission why Google's free voice application, called Google Voice, is banned from the Apple iPhone. Google is also filing comments.

Moreover, the report also states that Google may also be facing problems in which handsets with the company's mobile operating system for wireless devices can not use Voice Over Protocol service (VoIP) from skype.

Why: Consumers who use Android, the Google-developed operating system for wireless devices, can't use Skype, a leading Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service. A pioneer in free Internet calling, Skype allows you to talk as long as you want without draining cellphone minutes.

Android users get Skype Lite, a watered-down version of the original that routes calls over traditional phone networks — not the Internet. As a result, long-distance calls are still cheap or free, but cellphone minutes are gobbled up every time a Skype Lite call is made.

P1nksn0w for the iPhone

Since T-Mobile now is blocking all sidekick data plans for the iPhone many users have to switch their plans to get internet on their device. Many of those users are not really happy with T-Mobile. Me my self change my sidekick data plan, i had it for almost 2 years already :( to the $34.99 one stupid me :) so i could of get a little bit of internet on my iPhone.

But according to Limited Edition iPhone, they are trying to gather information from all the sidekick data plan users so they can build an application to make the device work. If you have information that can help head over to their page and let them know.

According to them the name of this new application will be "p1nksn0w". Pink because that's the official color of the T-Mobile logo.

They had a temporal solution to solve the problem with the sidekick data plan using a VPN that served as a proxy for iPhone users, but T-Mobile soon catch this and it does not work anymore

The T-Mobile's sidekicks are using some type of proxy and a port, and that is what this people are looking for. If they can get the proxy and the port, they can implement an easy to install application via cydia to help everyone out here in the US.

They are asking everyone to post links all over the internet to spread out the word. Hopefully they will come out with a solution to this soon. Please help out!

The Apple iTablet really exist

According to Gizmodo, it received information from some source confirming that the Apple iTablet indeed exist.

Even though the source didn't give much detail of the new iTable we found out some interesting information. According to Gizmodo the iTablet will have a 10 inch screen and will look just like a big iPhone with the black back design and some familiar buttons. According to the source the design can change at anytime.

The price of this new iTablet will be around $700 to $900--more than twice the netbook.

It looks like this new iTablet won't be in the rumored Apple event on September since some rumors have been accumulating stating that the device won't be out till the first quarter of 2010.

Right now the iPhone-like tablet coming from Apple in the near future is just a work in process. Not sure yet but this powerful iTablet will be build around ARM core with PowerVR graphics much like the iPhone and iPod touch.

It looks like the iPhone, though, third-party software is an important element for success of any platform. The new iTablet will be build around the same platform, will developers stick to this platform or develop a new one. We will have to wait and see bout that.

Ill keep you updated with the news.

iPhone 3gs 8gb rumors might be true

Days after some rumors about some new iPhone 3gs 8GB came out, Rogers was quick to deny this rumors saying that there was no such of thing like a new iPhone 3gs 8GB cumming out that it was just an error, now more evidence come to light showing that this rumors might be actually true.

A Rogers employee took some took some pictures of Hardware Upgrade Sales Flow system where new evidence of the new iPhone is shown.

This is what was said:

It clearly shows that an 8GB 3GS has been added to our stock list and is the same price as the 3G coming in at 99$...

The first listing is showing 74.00$ (promo price with data plan and minus customers 25$ discount)

The second listing shows the phone if the customer does not choose a data plan, which is normall 299$ minus said $25 discount, so 274$

I think that when 3G stock runs out they are going to build 99$ 3GSs since those are the parts they are ordering, might as well keep the parts list minimal...

If this is true then the price of the new iPhone 3gs 8GB might be $99 great huh :)

Sidekick Data Plan Down on iPhones

I have bad news for all of the people using the sidekick data plan for their unlock iPhones :(.
According to TUAW, T-Mobile would not longer service using sidekick data plan for their iPhones.

The T-Mobile sidekick data plan is one of the most affordable plans to be use with the iPhones, but now that the plan can't be used some customers would be really angry with this.

According to TUAW many customers called T-Mobile to report that their data plan suddenly stop working on their devices. T-Mobile representative gave different answer to this issue, some said that the service was down on some areas and others said that the plan needed to be upgrade to their normal plan.

I my self use the sidekick data plan (not the prepaid one) and it has been down for a couple of days now. I thought it had to do something with my iPhone but i guess not.

It looks like T-Mobile is looking for ways to make their customers change their plans to one that is more expensive. Thats not nice :(

TUAW as contacted T-Mobile for answers about this issue but T-Mobile haven't answer yet.

They better fix this issue i my self don't really want to change my plan.

iPhone app deposit check

If you hate to make long lines at the bank just to deposit your check then this is right for you.
It looks like USAA bank, a financial institution for caters to the military is updating an application to deposit your checks with your iPhone.

It looks like it will be easy you just open up the application and take a picture to the back and front of your check then just hit e-send and your check will be deposit to the account.

Of course if you use this service once you have deposit your check you would have to rip the check or just write "VOID" on it. Just play it smart and right void on it in case something goes wrong, you don't want to lose your money.

There is a little limitation this application that is only available for active-duty military personnel to use. Which it to be great so our military people can just deposit their checks normally.

If this application goes well probably it won't be the only one out. But you never know what can happen in the near future.

Google Latitude Available for iPhone

Google Latitude was added to the mobile phones recently by means of the application, Google Latitude an incorporation to Google Maps to know the places of your friends or acquaintances from the map, any time they are connected to this application, otherwise you will see the last location your friend was in.

Apparently this application is already available for several mobiles, although for the iPhone it seems that it is necessary to gain access from the web navigator, but closing the application stops one from sharing our current place, since it does not run when the application is close, so it is necessary to open the application whenever we want to update our place.

This service is available from Symbian, Windows Mobile, Android and iPhone OS, that at first was only available in the United States, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, but apparently it is already available in a lot of countries.

iPhone 3.0.1

Hello guys,
I am writing this to see how many of you guys have already upgrade your iPhones to the 3.0.1. How many of you were successful (everything fully working)? and how many of you are still struggling with the jailbraking process? if you having problems please leave a comment here so i can help you out. This blog is here so we can help you guys with your iPhone so please leave comments if you struggling or if you were successful let me know.

My side of the story is this one:
Last night when the dev team announced that it was all good to jailbreak the iPhone with the new firmware 3.0.1 version i was really happy so i started the process. I downloaded the latest itunes version, connected my iPhone 3g, and upgrade it to the new firmware. When the phone was done upgrading i was a little bit worry because i was wondering how about if it doesn't work? but i open up redsn0w selected the firmware 3.0 when redsn0w asked. I followed all the steps till my phone rebooted and i was happy to see that i had cydia install on it so i know i was successful :). I was also happy to see that some of my old apps, settings and contacts were there not my cracked apps or applications downloaded from cydia:( right now i am running my iPhone 3g on the new firmware 3.0.1 and everything is working perfectly. I can even tell you guys that my battery seems to have improved. That is my story now let me see yours :)

Also: some people that have the iPhone 3g s were having problems jailbreaking the new firmware because of the new itunes so if you having problems with your 3g s downgrade to itunes 8.2 and let me know how it goes :)

Iphone firmware 3.0.1 jailbroken

Ok guys as promise i have some good news for you all. The dev team just announce that the new firmware 3.0.1 can be jailbroken YESSSS :)..(lol). It looks really simple just update your iphone to the 3.0.1 via itunes then run redsn0w. When redsn0w ask for the IPSW file just use the firmware 3.0. After installing redsn0w if you unlocking your device just run redsn0w 0.9 and you will be good to go :)!.

Here is what the dev team said:

You can re-use redsn0w v0.8 we released a few weeks ago to jailbreak today’s 3.0.1 update. Just let iTunes update or restore you to official 3.0.1 then run redsn0w. The only “trick” is that when redsn0w asks you to identify the IPSW used, point it at the 3.0 IPSW instead of the 3.0.1 one. After the jailbreak, reinstall ultrasn0w 0.9 if you need the unlock.

More details:

The 3.0.1 release is a “branch” from 3.0 that occurs (code-wise) before all the 3.1 betas. All of the files redsn0w needs to change are identical when you compare the 3.0 and 3.0.1 versions. It seems pretty much the only changes Apple made were for the SMS bug, which affects programs that redsn0w doesn’t touch. That’s why you can re-use redsn0w 0.8 on 3.0.1 even though it was written for 3.0.

And since 3.0.1 doesn’t touch the baseband either, ultrasn0w 0.9 works for those needing the soft unlock. Just install it from the repo666.ultrasn0w.com repository using Cydia as usual.

We’ll at some point fix redsn0w to recognize both 3.0 and 3.0.1 IPSW’s, but really that’s the only change that would be made to it. Everything else would be identical, so there’s no need to wait for the “proper” version that recognizes the 3.0.1 IPSW as valid.
